Sembrando Raices Scholarship Fund was stated in 2019 by missionaries and staff of the Evangelical Methodist Church in El Salvador (IEMEES). Sembrando Raices Scholarship Fund provides a way for people and groups that have built relationships through other misistries of the Methodist Church in El Salvador to support the education of children that otherwise may not have that oppritunity. The scholarship fund, in conjunction with other ministry partners of the IEMEES, provides a holistic outreach ministry that address body, mind and spirit. We believe that a solid education from start to finish provides children with an option other than dangerous societal pitfalls such as gangs, teenage pregnancy and unemployment. USAID (usaid.gov) has this to say about the current educational in El Salvador,
"Many children and adolescents living in El Salvador face enormous vulnerabilities associated with high rates of crime and gang violence including poor quality education, exclusion from secondary education, early pregnancy and limited employment opportunities. School desertion rates are very high and are impacted by insecurity. Only about 50 percent of youth attend early secondary school (7th-9th grades), and only half of these go on to complete high school. There are over 300,000 youth aged 15 to 24 that neither study nor work."
Sembrando Raices Scholarship Fund believes that giving children and parents an option of a good education is an investment in the future of El Salvador. Raising children that have options once they finish school and providing them a chance to stop the cycle of poverty and violence in El Salvador.
